In our district we have to give an oral language grade. Think About It! is how the kids earn that grade. Each month they are given a topic (see below). Students have three weeks of time to work on their project entirely at home. They are brought in and on the due date and then over the next several days to a week (depending on time) we spend about 15-30 minutes a day sharing/presenting their projects. I grade them and hang them for the month. At the beginning of the year the kids are given a list of project ideas that they can do. It is very open ended so that it works for all kids. For example Red...a kid may make a simple collage of red things...write a poem about red...bake something red...the possibilities are pretty endless.
Kids, remember to be very creative and do not wait until the last minute to complete the project. Your project should look like you spent the full three weeks working on it.
Some project ideas include: posters, dioramas, scrapbooks, collages, stories, videos, Power Point presentations, interviews, reports, and the list goes on and on.
